Meet Your Instructor

Meet Sandra Davis

Infant Swimming Resource goes beyond traditional swimming instruction, by teaching children aged 6 months - 6 years old ISR Self-RescueTM techniques designed to help them survive should they reach the water alone. My name is Sandra Davis, and I teach ISR lessons in Marietta, GA, a suburb northwest of Atlanta.

I grew up in South Florida. We had pool in our backyard and we lived relatively close to the beach. I have always been very comfortable in water, partly because I grew up around it and partly because my grandmother made sure of it. She was a swim coach, and she had me learning how to swim before I could crawl.

When I found out I was pregnant with my first baby, I immediately started thinking about swim lessons and water safety. My husband builds swimming pools and we are always around water. I started looking at lessons, but I wasn't happy with anything I found. I couldn't believe it! Since I started swimming at such a young age, I assumed everyone offering lessons would teach my baby important water skills. Instead, every place I went to said it was impossible to teach kids younger than four how to swim. I was told that lessons for toddlers and babies included making them feel safe and comfortable in the water. This didn't make sense to me because 1) I knew I learned how to swim before the age of four, 2) I had seen videos and pictures of babies and toddlers "swimming," and 3) why would I want my baby to feel safe and comfortable with something that would not be safe if she were to encounter it alone prior to developing the appropriate skills?

It wasn't until I stumbled across Infant Swimming Resource's website that I knew I had finally found what I wanted. Both of my girls are ISR babies, and people are always amazed when they see them in the water. Not only are they comfortable in the water, but they both know important life-saving ISR Self-RescueTM skills. Of course ISR didn't make them drown-proof, so I always closely monitor them in and around the water; however, ISR has provided another layer of safety.

I started as an ISR parent, but I was so impressed with the program, that I knew I wanted to be part of it. I became an ISR Instructor because I truly believe in their mission that "Not One More Child Drowns." I am a full-time teacher, and I love working with children. I have also been on your side of the pool, and I understand the kinds of questions you may have during lessons. I will make sure you understand what your child is learning throughout every lesson.

I look forward to working with you and your child!

The Bump Family Story

My son completed 8 weeks of ISR training during the summer of 2010. He was just 1 year old. We went on a family vacation. One afternoon I took him to the pool at our hotel. He had a great time in the water, but then he wanted to explore the pool deck…
